New Delhi: Hon'ble Grand Mufti of India Muhammad Akhtar Raza Khan Qadiri has passed away on Friday evening. He had been suffering from illness for a long period of time and died at the age of 80.
Basically, Mufti Akhtar Raza was great-grandson and successor of Mujaddid Ahmed Raza Khan aka Aala Hazrat Khan, the founder of the Barelvi movement.
Mufti Mohammed Akhtar Raza Khan Qaderi was born on the 26th of Muharram 1362H / 2nd of February 1943 in Bareilly Shareef to Maulana Ibrahim Raza Khan. He received basic education from Manzar -e-Islam madarsa of Dargah-e-Aala Hazrat and Islamia inter college, Bareilly; and later pursued higher education at Al Azhar University, Egypt.
